How to Reset/Remove Windows Password with Partition Assistant?
With AOMEI Partition Assistant, you can easily reset or remove Windows passwords without reinstalling the Windows computer system.
Why do you need to remove or reset Windows passwords?
In many cases, you might need to remove or reset your Windows account passwords, for example, you forget your Windows account passwords, or you would like to remove passwords for PCs within your own organization, or so on. Usually, it is time-consuming and technical to remove or reset the passwords. With AOMEI Partition Assistant, you can easily reset or remove Windows passwords without reinstalling the Windows computer system.
How to remove or reset Windows passwords with Partition Assistant?
Prerequisites for reset passwords
- Download and install AOMEI Partition Assistant on a Windows computer.
- Attach a USB flash drive or insert a blank CD/DVD to your computer. If you neither have a USB nor CD/DVD, AOMEI Partition Assistant also enables you to create a bootable WinPE ISO file, which can be used to boot your virtual machines or burn to other devices.
- For Windows 8/8.1/10/11 computers, you may need to manually download Windows ADK (Assessment and Deployment Kit). Starting with Windows 10, version 1809, you also need to download the Windows PE Addon and run the included installer after installing the ADK. This change enables post-RTM updates to tools in the ADK.

How to remove or reset Windows passwords step by step
Step 1. Install and launch AOMEI Partition Assistant. In the Main Tab, please click "Tools" and "Reset Windows Password".
Step 2. In the pop-up window, there will be a window pop-up to create a WinPE bootable media. It helps you create a "password reset" disk. Please click "Next".
Step 3. There are three ways available to create bootable media based on Windows PE.
USB Boot Device: To create bootable USB Device.
Burn to CD/DVD: To create bootable CD/DVD.
Export ISO File: Use this method to make a bootable ISO file.
Choose one of them according to your needs and click "Proceed". It is recommended to select USB Boot Device so that you can directly use the bootable USB to boot into WinPE to do operation.
Note: "Add Drivers" allows you to manually add additional drivers into the bootable media.
Step 4. The USB flash drive needs to be formatted and all the data on it will be lost. If there is important data on it, please make a backup and redo it.
Step 5: The progress of creating a WinPE bootable USB drive will take a few minutes.
Step 6: Once the bootable USB is created successfully, please boot the computer you would like to remove or reset the password from the USB. Then, select the Windows system you would like to operate and click "Next".
Note: To boot from the Windows PE USB flash drive or CD/DVD, you need to first enter BIOS and change the boot order under Boot Menu.
Step 7: Please select the account you would like to operate and select the feature you want to use and click "Next".
There are 2 features available: Remove Account Password and Reset Account Password.
If you would like to remove the password, please select Remove Account Password and click "Next" so that the Windows password will be removed once the operation is finished.
If you would like to reset the password, please select Reset Account Password. Then, there will be a window pop-up to set a new password. After you confirm the new password, please click "Yes" to start the password reset operation.
After the remove/reset password operation is finished, you can click the "Reboot Computer" button to reboot your PC.
Notes:
- If the system drive is BitLocker encrypted, there will be no workable system displayed to reset/remove passwords. Please first remove BitLocker encryption in advance.
