Introduction

Change serial number is an operation which is seldom performed but rather vital for advanced users to realize particular purpose. Partition Serial Number is a serial number assigned by the Operating System to a disk partition. The format of partition serial number is: XXXX-XXXX (X could be A, B, C, D, E, F, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9). Each partition has a unique serial number so that the operating system can identify the different partitions on the disk.
This disk serial number is automatically generated and assigned when you format a disk partition and there is no documented way to change it without reformatting the disk volume. Partition Assistant allows you to modify the serial number for you disk volume without reformatting hard drive.

How to change the serial number

Step 1: Select a drive to change serial number

Launch AOMEI PartitionAssistant Professional, right click the drive you want to change the serial number and select "Advanced" -> "Change Serial Number".

Step 2: Input the new serial number

In the pop-up window, input the serial number you want (take 123456 as an example).

Press the "Apply" button to commit the pending operation.
