What can I do to fix Windows 11 starts slowly?

How to make Windows 11 startup faster? The suggestion I give to you is to replace hard drive with SSD. On machines with SSD, the slow boot issue will be resolved effectively.

There's no better way to make Windows 11 boot faster than to replace HDD with SSD. Because SSD doesn't use a magnetic head, it can quickly read the files needed for Windows to boot with minimal latency.

▶ Tips for buying an appropriate SSD

SSD is divided into SATA SSD and PCIe SSD. Since PCIe SSD directly transmit data to the CPU through the bus, PCIe SSD is faster than SATA SSD in terms of data transmission speed and boot time, but they are also more expensive.

Generally speaking, if your budget is enough, and the computer was bought in the past two years, you can choose PCIe SSD, because it requires a PCIe port to connect it. If your computer is not compatible with PCIe port, please choose SATA SSD.

In addition, well-known SSD brands include Samsung, Crucial, WD, SanDisk, HP, Kingston, Seagate, Toshiba, and Maxtor. The capacity of SSD is also divided into 256GB, 512GB, 1T, 2T, 4T,etc.

Part 1. Install SSD and initialize

Before cloning starts, we need to connect the prepared SSD to the computer and make sure it is recognized.

Prepare a suitable adapter according to the SSD type (SATA SSD or PCIe SSD). Then connect it to a USB port.

You can also install the SSD manually:

① Turn off the computer and open the case.

② Find the SSD slot. Desktops are usually easy to find slots, but laptops have a different slot location—usually under the bottom plate or under the keyboard.

Install Crucial SSD

③ Insert the SSD. When securing the disk, it may be necessary to insert the screws into the mounts provided on the motherboard, do not over-tighten the screws.

Install SSD

④ After firmly fixing the SSD in the slot, put the computer back in its original position and turn on the computer.

Restarting Windows 11, you need to initialize the SSD and set the partition style to GPT.

Part 2. Migrate Windows 11 to SSD

Install and run AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional, then follow the steps below:

Step 1. On the main interface, click "Clone" > “Migrate OS” on the top interface.

Migrate OS to SSD

Step 2. Select an unallocated space on the  SSD, and check “I want to delete all partitions on this disk 2 to migrate system to the disk” and click "Next".

Select Space

Step 3. Here, you can change the size of the partition.

Resize Partition

Step 4. Read the“Note”, and click“Finish”.

Note

Step 5. Finally, click "Apply" and "Proceed" to submit the operation.
