Is it worth to change a new PC for the new system? How can Windows 10 PC upgrade to Windows 11?

If these questions make you can’t decide whether to upgrade or not, then read this post, you might have some ideas.

Windows 11 VS Windows 10: What’s new in updated Windows 11?

Some users may think that Windows 11 is quite similar to Windows 10. However, Windows 11 has improved experience in many ways.

1. Start menu and taskbar

The first way you need to pay attention to is the Start menu and the taskbar. Windows 11 simplifies the Start menu. Users can only view a static applications list that shows the most frequently used files at the bottom. Importantly, the disappearance of Live Tiles makes the Start menu appearance much clearer in Windows 11.

Then in the Taskbar, the search box has been simplified as an icon and Cortana has been removed finally. Users can find a dedicated icon for Microsoft Teams in the Taskbar and they can freely remove the icon if they don’t use Teams.

Another significant change is that the weather in the Taskbar has been relocated to the left side of the screen. In Windows 10, this was known as News and Interests, but in Windows 11, it has been replaced with Widgets. You'll still see the weather, but you'll also view your favorite news, sports scores, local traffic, and other information.

2. New design and interface

Windows 11 offers a completely new user interface. It has a simple style with rounded corners and pastel colors. The classic Start menu moves to the middle of the screen and you may not move the taskbar to the right or the left of the screen. Because in Windows 11, it only stays on the bottom.

3. Better gaming experience

Windows 11 is also the greatest Windows operating system for gamers. Recent Windows 11 upgrades featured windowed gaming enhancements, Auto HDR, and DirectStorage.

HDR

Although some of these capabilities, such as DirectStorage, are already available on Windows 10, Microsoft has made it obvious that gaming is a major emphasis for Windows 11, making it the best platform for gamers currently, especially with some of the performance problems ironed out. PC gamers are flocking to Windows 11, which is a positive sign.

4. Integration of Android applications

After Windows 11 was originally released, one of the standout features was the ability to run Android apps. Although this feature was postponed, Microsoft stated that it would be released in early 2022. Indeed, it appears. The forthcoming Windows 11 upgrade officially enables Android applications. Thus, if you rely heavily on any Android apps, Windows 11 will make life a lot simpler.

5. Snap Layouts and multitasking

Windows 11's multitasking enhancements are unique. Snap Layouts combine your windows and save them to the taskbar in Windows 11, and it can improve multitasking and system efficiency.

This is accessible in Windows 10, but Windows 11 makes accessing Snap Layouts easier and offers additional setting options. Microsoft has also added more capability to Snap Layouts since its first release.

Multitasking

6. Enhanced touchscreen, voice, and pen device support

If you use a tablet, Windows 11 is the best option. Things become simpler to touch when you move to a tablet. This contains additional gestures for launching the Start menu, dismissing windows, and other features not seen in Windows 10.

Furthermore, Windows 11 expands pen capabilities. You may still interact visually using Whiteboard, but Windows 11 adds support for up to four app shortcuts through your pen.

Voice navigation in Windows 11 has also been upgraded, allowing you to use your voice to start programs, enter keyboard and mouse inputs, manage the operating system, and pretty much everything else you may need. In brief, Windows 11 allows you to fully manage the operating system using your voice.

How to upgrade Windows 11 from Windows 10?

The system requirements of Windows 11 have made many users give up. Indeed, this new OS asks a higher level of hardware. To help users to check whether their computer can run Windows 11 or not, Microsoft offers “PC Health Check” to scan your computer. You may use it after downloading to begin checking Windows 11 compatibility or testing the health and performance of your Windows machine.

Check

Normally, if this tool shows that your PC can run Windows 11, you can directly upgrade if you want Windows 11. Some users may find errors that though the PC health check says “Yes” the Windows update says “No” Windows 11 on their computer. If you meet this problem, try aother check tool, the problem might be fixed.

After the checking, the program will show why your computer can’t run Windows 11.

Imcompatible

If your computer just needs to convert MBR disk to GPT or extend C drive space, we can help you fix these two issues without data loss. However, if your PC needs TPM 2.0 or the processer doesn’t support it, if you really need Windows 11, you can use a Windows 11 external media to run it on your Windows 10, otherwise, you’ll need to change to a new computer.

Solved: Can’t upgrade to Windows 11

1. Convert system disk to GPT

After you check your PC if the window shows that your computer needs to support Secure Boot. Then, first, you can check the system disk partition scheme if it’s GPT or MBR in Disk Management. If it’s MBR, then here, we recommend you use AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional to realize a data-safe conversion.

Disk Management will ask users to delete all partitions on the disk because it can only convert empty disks. But AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional won’t, you only need 3 steps, and the system disk will be safely converted. The only point is that you need to make sure the current motherboard supports EFI/UEFI boot mode, otherwise, the system cannot boot successfully after conversion.

Step 1. Install and launch AOMEI Partition Assistant, right-click the MBR disk you want to change, and then choose “Convert to GPT”.

Step 2. In the pop-up window, click “OK” to continue.

OK

Step 3. Click “Apply” to perform the operation and then your disk will be changed into GPT disk style.

Apply

Then you need to reboot your PC and enter BIOS to change the boot mode from Legacy to UEFI. After that go to boot settings in BIOS, find the Secure Boot option, and follow the guide of your board to set the default Secure Boot. When finished, boot into Windows and check your PC again.

2. Extend system disk capacity

To extend the system disk, there are 2 situations.

Case 1. Only one C drive on the system disk

If your system disk only has a C drive, then the only way to enlarge your system disk is to change a large disk. You can buy a new disk, after initializing it, directly clone your current disk to it. Cloning disk can avoid reinstalling Windows, and losing all programs and all data files, you’ll get a disk the same as the old one but the new disk has a large size for Windows 11. This way can also be easily realized via AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional. The “Disk Clone Wizard” can clone HDD and SSD to the target disk with easy steps. And it can even make a 4K alignment to improve SSD’s performance during the cloning process.

Step 1. Run AOMEI Partition Assistant Professional and choose Clone > Clone Disk in the top of main interface.

Step 2. A window will pop up. Here you can choose a way to copy the MBR disk to GPT based on the specific situations. Here we choose Clone Disk Quickly.

Step 3. Choose the MBR system disk as the source disk.

Select source disk

Step 4. Select the GPT disk as the target disk. When it is SSD, check “Optimize the performance of SSD…”

Select destination disk

Step 5. Here you can edit partitions on the target disk.

Edit disk

You’ll be prompted by a note about how to boot the operating system from the target disk. Read and remember it. Then, click “Finish”.

Step 6. You’ll be in the main interface. Confirm your operation and click "Apply">"Proceed" to execute it.

Apply

Now you can reboot your computer, enter BIOS to change the boot order, and boot from your new disk. PC health check won’t show system drive doesn’t have enough space.

Case 2. More than one partition on the system disk

If you have a D drive or other partitions on your system disk, then you can share the free space on another drive with your C drive. There’s “Allocate Free Space” in AOMEI Partition Assistant. It can directly share free space from one drive to another drive on the same disk.

Step 1. Launch AOMEI Partition Assistant. Right-click the drive which has free space, and select “Allocated Free Space”.

Allocate free space

Step 2. In the pop window, you can allocate free space from the D drive to the C drive. After setting up, click "OK".

Allocate space

Step 3. Click "Apply" and "Proceed" to execute the progress.

Apply

Then your C drive will have enough space for Windows 11.

Tips: You can also--
1. If there are some programs installed on the C drive, you can use “App Mover” to move them to another drive/disk to release available space. Then you can directly run them from a new location, with no need to reinstall.
2. “Merge partitions” can merge two partitions into one.

Conclusion

“Is Windows 11 better than Windows 10?” now you must have your own answer. There is no need to quarrel that Windows 10 is better than Windows 11 or Windows 11 is better than Windows 10. All are based on your needs.

AOMEI Partition Assistant is a handy tool for Windows users. It has many helpful features for you. And there is the Server Edition for Windows Server user to conveniently manage their devices.
