My Seagate external hard drive becomes read only in Windows PC

“I want to copy some files from Windows 7-based Dell desktop to my Seagate external hard drive. But I can’t copy files to it and get an error message saying – The disk is write-protected. Remove the write-protection or use another disk. How can I change the external hard drive from read-only to normal status? Is there any suggestion? Thanks!”
