HP_Tools Partition is created by the system when the HP Tools utility is installed on your HP computer. It always store the computer’s diagnostic tools, which you can access by pressing F11 during OS boot and you can use to check for the failing hard disks. This HP_Tools partition is labeled E drive usually with a small capacity of around 100MB. So it has much less available space than other partitions. Therefore, you’d better not save personal files, backups or program on HP_Tools drive.

As we mentioned, if you store many personal files on the HP_Tools drive, or if a backup or restore program uses the HP_Tools drive, the free spacewill be filled up soon and the low disk space error message will pop out. Consequently, you could not use the system diagnostics. So, what should you do when the HP_Tools partition is full?
To fix the HP tools partition full error, there are two ways available. The first way is to turn off the system protection for HP Tools drive, then remove these files unrelated to system diagnostics from that partition. The second way is to copy the HP_Tools partition to another larger drive and delete it. Here are the steps for respective methods.
Step 1. Right click Computer, select Properties>System Protection.
Step 2. In next window, highlight the HP Tools partition E: drive in Protection Settings, then click Configure.
Step 3. Tick Turn off the system protection at the new pop up window.
Step 4. Then you can remove any backup or restore files and folders on HP_Tools partition to disable the HP Tools partition low disk space error.
Note: Do not delete the items HP_WSD.dat, PSF_Rep, Recycle Bin, or the Hewlett-Packard folder! Otherwise, you cannot use system diagnostics properly. Furthermore, you’d better change the default backup location to other drives.
When the HP_Tools partition is on low disk space, you can also copy it to another bigger partition and delete the current one. Step 1. Install and run AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard. Select the HP_Tools partition on your computer and choose “Clone Partition” .
Step 2. Choose a proper partition clone method. If you just want to clone used sectors to the destination partition, choose the “Clone Partition Quickly” method.
Step 3. Select an unallocated space to save the copy of the HP_Tools partition and click on “Next”.
Step 4. Here, you can resize the partition as you need.
Step 5. Click “Apply” and “Proceed” to commit the pending oepration.
After the copy is done, now you can delete the current HP_Tools partition safely. Just right-click it, choose “Delete Partition” and follow the prompts to finish the rest.

Also, you can create a new HP_Tools partition with the unallocated space you will see after deleting the old one. and then copy all the files associated with system diagnostics from external hard drive to the HP Tools drive.
